Tuning & Repairs
There is nothing better than a freshly tuned piano. We recommend having your piano tuned on either a six month or yearly schedule, based on your needs. For anyone learning to play or who is a skilled pianist, we recommend the six month schedule.
Our base tuning service includes: a complete fine tuning, a pitch adjustment (if necessary) and minor repairs up to a total of 90 minutes. Beyond that an additional fee will be required.
Repairs may include (but are not limited to): Fixing sticking keys, adjusting pedals, addressing buzzes and clicks.
-
Cleaning
A clean piano is both asthetically pleasing and conducive to its proper function. This service includes removing dust and debris from the plate, soundboard and action cavity.
-
Voicing
Whether the hammers on your piano are old and have string grooves worn into them or are brand new and just too bright for your liking, voicing can improve the tone of your piano. Through filing, needling and/or steaming of the hammers we can make your piano sound more pleasing to your ear.

Silent System Installation
The installation of a silent system adds a digital keyboard feature to your acoustic piano. It allows you to practice in silence without disturbing others in the house or your neighbors. It can be used as a stand alone keyboard or in conjunction with your acoustic piano. The installation involves adding a sensors underneath the keys and to the pedals to detect their motion and a mute rail behind the hammers to prevent them from striking the strings when the system is in silent mode.
We install various versions of silent systems including:
- PianoDisc QuietTime - QRS ProScan
- Adsilent - Kioshi - Genio
-
Grand Piano Muffler
The Grand Piano Muffler system is designed to achieve a more desirable listening environment by reducing the volume of your piano and giving it a warmer tone. Installing the system allows you to slide a felt rail into place between the hammers and strings. This decreases the impact of the hammer striking the string, resulting in a lower volume without distorting the tone or shortening the sustain of the note. The feel of the keys are unchanged after engaging the muffler system. Whether you have a player system in your piano that doesn’t play as softly as you would like, live in an apartment and don’t want to disturb your neighbors every time you practice or just want your piano to take a back seat at your dinner party, this system is perfect for you.

Harpsichord Services
-
Tuning
Tuning is vitally important to a harpsichord. Unlike a piano, harpsichords do not have as rigid of a supporting structure, making it much more susceptible to changes in humidity and temperature.
-
Regulation
Similar to a piano, a harpsichord relies on proper function of its action parts to perform well. A well regulated action will feel more even to the touch from one note to the next with each performing more consistently.
This service includes adjusting the timing of which the plectrum plucks the each string, the timing of the damper felt silencing each string after the key is released and the smooth return of the plectrum and tongue to their rest position so that it can be ready to play again.
-
Voicing
The “voice” of a harpsichord is affected primarily by the size, shape, and flexibility of the plectrum as they activate each string. A proper voicing ensures that each plectrum produces a pleasant and consistent quality of tone from each note.
